Photo History: My first blanket in 2008!
Hi Blanket Hearts Friends!
I am Amber Ostrup, Founder of Blanket Hearts, a 501(3)(c) charitable blanket ministry that provides no-sew blankets to people in need.
Our blanket ministry started after losing my Mom to cancer in 2003. It was at that time I felt compelled to do something for people coming to the end of their life. Patients and loved ones experience so many emotions while one is coming to the end of their lives, I wanted to try and bring them a little cheer, comfort, and joy.
Blanket Hearts started out with one blanket being delivered to Georgetown University Hospital in 2008 and has now evolved into several hundred blankets a year being made to show love to those in need. Our blankets are made from community members from all walks of life and a wide range of ages. I love hosting community events where we see people ages one to 80 years old, from all different cultures and backgrounds, coming together to help those in need.
Our blankets are provided to those facing the end of their lives, starting or completing chemotherapy treatments, homeless men and women, veterans, children facing hospital stays, and those in need of a little comfort. We depend on the love and hearts of volunteers who attend our no-sew blanket making events to bring this ministry to life! Please feel free to contact us at blankethearts@gmail.com if you would like to support the Blanket Hearts mission.

And remember – it only takes a little time and love to make an imprint on someone’s heart. ♥
Hugs, love and blessings ∼
